Matcha Mind Break

On October 8, 2025, in honor of World Mental Health Day, the Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) Mental Health Center hosted an event that combined science, mindfulness, and Japanese traditions – “Matcha Mind Break.” The event served as a symbolic reminder of the importance of self-care, taking a pause, and mindful breathing amid the daily noise.

Psychiatrist Oleksandr Lozynskyi spoke about the effects of matcha on the mind and brain function. He explained how the combination of caffeine and L-theanine helps maintain concentration, reduces anxiety, and promotes a state of inner balance. According to him, matcha is not just a drink but a tool for mental recovery, helping one reconnect with oneself.

Inspiration and a sense of ease at the event were added by Nazar and Oleksandr Kosyak – TikTok creators with an audience of over 50,000 followers, known for their aesthetic videos on preparing matcha. They shared Japanese rituals, demonstrated the brewing process, and turned it into a practice of silence and mindfulness.
