TNMU Receives a High-Capacity Generator from the Charitable Organization “Johanniter Mission Siret”
On December 20, 2025, the charitable organization Johanniter Mission Siret (Romania) handed over a high-capacity 80 kW Japanese generator to representatives of Ternopil National Medical University. This organization is an international humanitarian initiative that brings together volunteers from various countries in Europe and worldwide. Its main areas of activity include providing humanitarian and medical assistance, supporting healthcare institutions, responding to crisis situations, and helping the civilian population in the face of humanitarian and social challenges.

Members of the charitable organization had the opportunity to meet with representatives of TNMU at the University’s Mental Health Center, where they also communicated with the center’s beneficiaries and presented them with gifts.

The Vice-Rector for Science, Education, and Clinical Affairs, Professor Stepan Zaporozhan, expressed his gratitude for the assistance and voiced hope for further cooperation between the university and the charitable organization.

TNMU has an active volunteer group that has been cooperating with Johanniter Mission Siret since October 2024. Over the course of one and a half years, this collaboration has included numerous visits by international partners to the Ternopil region, during which healthcare institutions and the university received medical equipment, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid.
One such visit was the stay of representatives of the charitable organization Johanniter Mission Siret at Ternopil National Medical University on June 4, 2025. During that visit, a meeting was held with Professor Mykhailo Korda, the Rector of TNMU. The parties discussed the university’s volunteer and humanitarian activities in the context of the full-scale invasion, in particular support for healthcare institutions and rehabilitation centers, as well as educational initiatives aimed at training civilians in the basics of first aid and improving the qualifications of medical professionals in the fields of emergency care and crisis medicine.
Representatives of Johanniter Mission Siret familiarized the university leadership with the main directions of their activities and the results achieved in recent years, and also donated medical equipment to TNMU, including a patient monitor. During the meeting, promising areas for further cooperation were identified.
As a logical continuation of constructive dialogue and partnership relations, international partners visited the university again on December 20. During a challenging period marked by power outages and disruptions in electricity supply, the charitable organization delivered a Japanese generator from Sweden, making a significant contribution to ensuring the uninterrupted operation of medical and educational facilities.
The delegation included Anna-Maria Maidaniuc (Romania), Ann-Katrin Kramer, Franz Saitz, and Michael Volta.
The distinguished guests were welcomed by the Vice-Rector of Science, Education, and Clinical Affairs, Professor Stepan Zaporozhan; staff of the Mental Health Center and the Primary Healthcare Center; representatives of the NGO “My World Center”; as well as volunteers of the university-wide volunteer movement Misericordia—Sofiia Kukharchuk, Anna Dvolitko, Bohdana Dovhaliuk, Viktoriia Koldun, and Kateryna Bezrukava.

The transfer of humanitarian equipment was made possible thanks to the efforts of Taras Kadobnyi, Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Education Pedagogy and Social Sciences.
Through the joint efforts of the university community and international partners, we are not only strengthening the material and technical base of medicine but also supporting mental health, human dignity, and faith in the power of solidarity. It is through unity, mutual support, and cooperation that resilience is born—something that is exceptionally important for Ukrainian society today.
