TNMU Successfully Held the Defense of Qualification Theses by the First Cohort of Healthcare Management Graduates
I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University hosted the public defense of qualification theses by the first cohort of master’s students majoring in Management (Educational Program “Healthcare Management”).
This graduation is historic for the University, as it marks a transition from exclusively clinical training to the development of a new generation of managers capable of leading transformational processes in Ukraine’s healthcare sector.

The theses presented for defense covered a wide range of relevant scientific and practical issues—from optimizing financial flows in healthcare institutions amid ongoing reforms to implementing innovative human resource management strategies and advancing medical marketing. The research was based on an analysis of the current financing model (the National Health Service of Ukraine), risk assessment, and the application of strategic planning tools (SWOT analysis, the balanced scorecard, etc.). Particular attention was paid to the digitalization of healthcare and ensuring the quality of medical services in line with international standards.

The level of the graduates’ preparation was assessed by recognized experts in management—Doctors and Candidates of Sciences in Management—as well as invited practitioners, including heads of medical institutions. Thanks to their specialized expertise, the defenses took the form of in-depth professional discussions, focusing on the graduates’ ability to apply universal management tools (organizational management, HR management, financial management) within the specific context of the healthcare sector. The invited experts unanimously noted the high level of the graduates’ academic training, emphasizing their analytical maturity, ability to work with large datasets and forecast institutional development, as well as their leadership potential and clear vision for overcoming crises and restructuring healthcare delivery.

“We saw not just graduates, but mature strategists. These young professionals possess exactly those qualities—critical thinking, empathy, and financial literacy—that are in short supply today. They will become the architects of a new healthcare system where patient-centeredness is combined with economic efficiency,” members of the examination board noted during the discussion of the results.

The TNMU administration is confident that this graduation will provide a powerful impetus for the development of the medical community. Graduates of the Healthcare Management program are the specialists who will shape the future of the sector by implementing European management standards and ensuring the sustainable development of domestic medicine.

We congratulate the first TNMU master’s graduates in Healthcare Management on the successful completion of their studies and wish them professional resilience in building a high-quality and efficient healthcare system in Ukraine!
