Meeting of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group
On February 9, 2026, an extended meeting of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group was held. Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Physiology with Bioethics, third-cycle (doctoral) students of the specialties “Medicine,” “Dentistry,” and “Pharmacy,” representatives of the student scientific community and the Council of Young Scientists of the University, as well as students of the Medical Faculty were invited to participate.

The meeting was opened by Professor S. Vadziuk, Head of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group and Head of the Department of Physiology with Bioethics, who informed participants about the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on December 18, 2025 of the Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity.”

Participants’ attention was focused on the scope of this Law, which applies to social relations arising in connection with academic activity, including scientific, scientific-pedagogical, pedagogical, and teaching activities; educational activities of students; educational activities of educational institutions and research institutions; development, implementation, and evaluation of projects in the field of education and science; creation, review, and scientific editing of academic works; entrance examinations at educational institutions (research institutions); organization and conduct of academic competitions, tournaments, contests, and other competitive events in the field of education and science, as well as participation in such events (hereinafter – competitions); awarding of academic degrees and educational degrees, conferment of academic and pedagogical titles and qualification categories; implementation of internal and external quality assurance procedures in education; certification of research staff; state attestation of research institutions and higher education institutions in terms of their scientific and scientific-technical activities; and conduct of scientific and scientific-technical expertise.
For participants of the extended meeting of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group, who are members of the academic community and influence compliance with academic integrity at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, information on adherence to the principles of academic integrity by all participants in the educational process is extremely relevant and requires thorough study, promotion, and observance.

Academic integrity and adherence to its principles by all participants in scientific, pedagogical, and educational activities form the foundation of the academic community’s reputation, which, in turn, serves as a guarantee of the institution’s success and the future competitiveness of its graduates in the international academic environment.
Professor S. Vadziuk’s report aroused strong interest among the invited students and academic staff and initiated a constructive discussion of the articles of the Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity.”
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to actively promote the provisions of national legislation on academic integrity, followed by discussions within the University’s departments and an assessment of awareness among academic staff and students.
Members of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group approved the 2026 meeting plan.
The discussion was joined by Professor O. Avdieiev, Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, who proposed holding departmental meetings via corporate messengers to facilitate communication regarding awareness of Ukrainian legislation. O.I. Pukhalska, responsible for anti-plagiarism checks at the University, raised the need for effective tools to detect and prevent the use of artificial intelligence products. Associate Professor V.B. Radchuk, Head of the Quality Assurance Department, informed participants about plans to discuss rating-based surveys of the University’s academic staff.
To enhance awareness and adherence to the principles of academic integrity, Professor S. Vadziuk, Head of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group, proposed implementing an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental discussion format within the University community, encouraging bottom-up initiatives to develop strategies to prevent violations of academic integrity within the legislative framework.
