On March 11, 2026, the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Education of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) hosted the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad for the 2025–2026 academic year in the discipline “Examination, Methods of Assessment and Control in Musculoskeletal Disorders.” The participants of the Olympiad were bachelor’s students of the “Therapy and Rehabilitation” specialty.

The jury included associate professors of the department, Uliana Hevko, Valentyna Boiko, Anastasiia Bai, and teaching assistant Andrii Havrylenko.

The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine’s peace and independence.

A total of 14 third-year students took part in the Olympiad. The competition became not only a test of knowledge but also an opportunity for future specialists to demonstrate their intellectual potential across the theoretical and practical aspects of a physical therapist’s professional activity.

The Olympiad consisted of two stages.
The first stage (theoretical) consisted of completing 48 test questions on the discipline.

The second stage (practical) involved demonstrating practical skills in the pre-clinical practice laboratory, which is equipped with the necessary rehabilitation equipment and located at the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Education.

The jury evaluated the participants’ performance across both stages and selected the students who demonstrated the highest level of knowledge and professional competence in physical therapy.

The winners of the Olympiad were:

Maksym Shtyrkalo (TR-303) – 1st place

Dariia Shkrobot (TR-301) and Uliana Stankevych (TR-302) – 2nd place

Nazar Bodnar (TR-303) – prize-winner

The winners were congratulated by the department’s academic coordinator, Associate Professor Uliana Hevko, who wished them inspiration and success on their path to achieving their chosen profession.

Students who achieved the highest scores in the competition were awarded honorary diplomas and valuable prizes, serving as motivation for further acquisition of knowledge and professional skills in the specialty “Therapy and Rehabilitation.”

The Olympiad became not only an important event for evaluating and recognizing talented students but also an excellent opportunity to stimulate their professional development and growth. The valuable experience gained through participation contributes to strengthening the intellectual potential of student youth and promoting high academic and professional standards in the training of future physical therapists.
