Academic Integrity as the Foundation of Professional Training for Future Physical Therapist Assistants
A lecture on academic integrity was delivered to first (bachelor’s) level students of higher education in specialties I7 “Therapy and Rehabilitation,” 227 “Therapy and Rehabilitation,” and 227 “Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy.” The lecture was conducted by Associate Professor Iryna Stechyshyn, Head of the Center for Academic Integrity, with Associate Professor Anastasiia Bai, the guarantor of the educational program, in attendance. The meeting was also attended by Professor D. Popovych, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Education, as well as academic staff members of the department: Associate Professor U. Hevko, Assistant K. Myndziv, Assistant A. Havrylenko, and Assistant O. Metelska.

During the event, special attention was given to the essence of academic integrity as the foundation of quality education and professional training for future healthcare specialists. The lecturer introduced students to the key principles for adhering to ethical standards in educational and scientific activities, including the independent completion of work, the proper use of information sources, and the prevention of plagiarism, fabrication, and the falsification of results.

Particular focus was also placed on responsibility for violations of academic integrity principles, as well as on modern tools for detecting plagiarism. Students were provided with practical recommendations on proper citation and referencing, as well as on developing their own academic culture.


Such events foster a responsible attitude toward the educational process, develop critical thinking skills, and improve the quality of training for future physical therapist assistants.
