On April 24, 2026, representatives of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University—Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Oleksandra Oleshchuk; Professor of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Andrii Holiachenko; Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology Liudmyla Mazur; Erasmus institutional coordinator, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages Mariia Kichula; and Assistant of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology Iryna Yavorska—participated in a meeting with representatives of the UK Embassy and the British Council in Ukraine. The event took place at the educational hub of Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University.

The participants engaged in discussions with Svitlana Yavorska (UK Embassy in Lviv), Tom Mishosh (British Council in Ukraine), Anastasiia Horashchenko (Chevening Program, UK Embassy in Kyiv), and Arsen Kelichavyi (Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory at Kyiv National Economic University, Head of Non-Formal Education Initiatives).

During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to learn about the key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, as well as the activities of diplomatic institutions and educational programs supported by the British side. Particular attention was paid to the role of young people in national recovery and development, as well as to the importance of leadership, active citizenship, and motivation for professional growth.

The discussion also covered opportunities for student participation in academic mobility programs, international internships, training sessions, volunteer initiatives, and other forms of non-formal education that foster the development of soft skills, communication abilities, intercultural competence, and competitiveness in today’s labor market.

A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the Chevening Scholarship Programme—one of the most prestigious international scholarship programs for studying in the United Kingdom. Funded by the UK government, the program offers talented young professionals the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at leading UK universities. The scholarships are aimed at emerging leaders with strong academic backgrounds, professional achievements, and a commitment to contributing to societal development, public administration, and public discourse.

Participants also received practical advice on preparing application documents, writing a motivation letter, building a professional portfolio, and successfully completing the selection process. Such events play an important role in expanding the university’s international cooperation and open up new opportunities for the professional and personal development of TNMU students and faculty.
