TNMU Participates in the Educational and Scientific Project “Science in Partnership”

The initiative brought together tenth-grade students — future young researchers from Ivan Franko Ternopil Academic Lyceum “Ukrainian Gymnasium” — and four higher education institutions of Ternopil with the aim of involving lyceum students in research activities, career guidance, professional self-determination, and strengthening educational and scientific partnerships between educational institutions.

The authors of the project are Hanna Chaikovska, Associate Professor at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, and Mykola Fedoruts, Director of the Ivan Franko Ternopil Academic Lyceum “Ukrainian Gymnasium”.

On May 4, 2026, the first stage of the project, “Start in Science,” was implemented. At TNMU, the lyceum students met with Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Oleksandra Oleshchuk, who welcomed the project participants, presented the university’s main research areas and scientific schools, and introduced the opportunities offered by its research infrastructure, international scientific cooperation, and academic mobility.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mariia Shkilna, told the future researchers about the unique Center for the Study of Lyme Borreliosis and Other Tick-Borne Infections.

A tour of the Laboratory of Histological and Electron Microscopic Research at the Center for Shared Scientific Equipment Use, “Interdepartmental Educational and Scientific Laboratory Center,” was conducted by Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Zoia Nebesna.

Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Educational and Research Institute of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Liliia Lohoida, introduced the students to the Research Laboratory for Quality Control of Medicines.

Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Biology, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Yaroslav Stravskyi, familiarized the lyceum students with the work of the vivarium, while Senior Laboratory Assistant Liubov Kalinichuk spoke about scientific activities carried out at the Central Research Laboratory of TNMU.

Here, the future researchers had the opportunity to participate directly in scientific investigations.

Familiarization with the activities of scientific laboratories, monitoring opportunities, analyzing TNMU’s research areas, and assessing their significance not only for the development of science and society but also for the Ternopil community took place during the second stage, “Living Science.”

More details about the visit to TNMU will be presented to all project participants on May 7 during the final stage, “Scientific Pitching,” a public presentation of the research results of the future young scientists.
