A Cooperation Agreement with the National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care Was Completed at TSMU

Last week, the rector of Ternopil State Medical University Professor Mykhailo Korda and the Head of the National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care, the Head of the Training Department of the Ukrainian Research Centre of Emergency Care and Disaster Medicine Vitalii Kryliuk have signed a memorandum of cooperation on implementation of a number of projects.

So, TSMU and the National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care will cooperate to prevent emergencies or reduce their consequences, decrease the number of victims in accidents and disasters and improve emergency and premedical assistance in Ukraine. Medical and non-medical workers will also improve their skills in emergency assistance. Both organizations support and assist each other in cooperation with the European Resuscitation Council, the American Heart Association, National Association of Ambulance (USA) and other international organizations in the area of resuscitation and emergency medical and premedical assistance.

Since 2014, civil population has been taught the fundamentals of premedical assistance at the University. More than three thousand people of all ages and social groups, hundreds of medical volunteers have developed their skills in tactical medicine. Tactical medicine and premedical help are the most popular nowadays. Due to the Cooperation Memorandum, the TSMU instructors can train everyone at the university, as well as at Chervona Kalyna Educational and Health Centre. The National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care considers the Centre as a training place of nationwide significance. There are all necessary for different kinds of training, comfortable accommodation and healthy food. According to the law “On emergency medical assistance”, some categories of people must be able to deliver first aid. They are police officers, employees of the state fire-fighting service, pharmaceutical industry, as well as those who deal with transport, etc. So, such trainings can take place at this centre. Primary training, retraining and skills improving may also be held there.

A number of TSMU teachers have been cooperating with the National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care for a long time. The teachers of this NGO trained 16 students and three teachers of TSMU, who have received certificates of trainers and teachers. So, these persons can hold training in premedical assistance and issue certificates.

The National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care also cooperates with the European Resuscitation Council and the agreement will be signed soon. It gives the opportunity to pass courses held by European organization and receive its certificate. Soon the TSMU students can improve their skills. They will also have funding opportunities from international foundations and can study abroad or employ in other countries in the future.

Also, National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care provides tutorials, models, dummies and study materials for a training course. The members of the organization follow all the latest equipment and materials for emergency care and implement them in training programs.

This organization is involved in the writing and publication of textbooks in premedical assistance which are very popular in Ukraine. This book contains 28 standards for the training of civilian citizens. National Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Care also wrote the textbooks “Warfare Emergency Medical Care” and “Emergency Medical Care. Specific Aspects”.

This cooperation is very important in training, practical skills development of the TSMU students, also in research, legislation and the expansion of international cooperation.
