Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology Took Part in Seminar “Life After War. Overcoming Post-Traumatic Syndrome”

On February 11, 2023, Tetiana Ivanitska, Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of Ternopil National Medical University, took part in the seminar “Life after the war. Overcoming post-traumatic syndrome”. The event was organized by the public organization “You are your own country” and took place in Kyiv at “Vcentri HUB: Shevchenkivskyi”.

The panel discussion was attended by Olympic champion, public figure, honoured master of sports Stella Zakharova, head of NGO “You are your own country” Volodymyr Vavrykovych, director of Centre for mental health and rehabilitation of veterans “Lisova Poliana” Kseniia Voznitsyna, head of NGO “International Association of the Future of Ukraine” Anna Duhinets and practical psychologist Anatolii Baida.


The event was attended by servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, representatives of public associations and legal institutions, students, as well as concerned members of the public.


During the event, the issue of readaptation and resocialization to civilian life of military personnel, psychological rehabilitation of internally displaced persons and other people for whom the war became a psychologically traumatic experience was considered. An active discussion took place regarding the psychosocial issues of returning to peaceful life for those who were forced to stay in the war zone for a long time.


At the end of the seminar, it was announced the creation of a working group, which included psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, rehabilitation doctors, public figures, volunteers and government officials. This group is focused on developing a rehabilitation program for victims of various social and age categories as a result of the war in Ukraine.
