On December 3-4, 2022, Tetiana Ivanitska, Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, conducted a training course on stress reactions for combat medics of one of the military units of the Kyiv region. During the meetings, the attendees discussed the topics “Stress and its forms”, “Acute reaction to stress”, “Techniques of helping people who have experienced traumatic events”, “Combat stress and combat fatigue” and “Post-traumatic stress disorder”.

Almost three dozen military personnel took part in the event. The training topics were accompanied by discussion and joint reflections on current affairs in the field of mental health.
Every person in contact with military personnel and civilians who are trying to cope with the emotional trauma of war, the consequences of illness or injury, need our support and maximum efforts. The contribution of individual civilian and military professionals who are familiar with the main dangers to mental well-being can improve the quality of mental health care in our country and help eradicate stereotypes of those who need psychological and psychiatric care. Combating stigmatization and encouraging soldiers to seek support is extremely challenging. Therefore, it is very important today to jointly launch the processes that will help to take an important step forward on the way to the health and well-being of those who bravely stand on the defence of our country. We have to bring our common victory closer together.
