Games of Intellect, Trainings and Holy Shrines Visiting for Students from Luhansk and Donetsk in Ternopil State Medical University

Two weeks have already passed since the guests from Luhansk and Donetsk Medical Universities came to Ternopil State Medical University. 23 students of these universities had an opportunity to spend part of their summer holidays in a hospitable Ternopil land within the framework of the project “East and West Belong Together” which was initiated and implemented by TSMU. During this time the youth from East visited holy shrines, saw around historical and architectural landmarks, enjoyed themselves at the educational and recreational center of TSMU “Chervona Kalyna”, made new friends, developed their leadership skills and just relaxed.

Emergency care skills have always been important, especially now. That is why the project “East and West Belong Together” offers the students of Donetsk and Luhansk Medical Universities to run first aid courses.

The students from Luhansk and Donetsk persistently exercised skills to assist the wounded in various emergency situations. The training was at six stages: examination, applying a tourniquet and a bandage, bleeding control, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway breathing, and evacuation. After acquiring of necessary knowledge and skills the so-called simulation was held. The Guests of TSMU were divided into several groups. Each of the group had to provide attendance to pretend injured at a given time.

The course participants noted that they had gained very useful experience, which is very necessary for both civilians and military. Especially it is necessary for future medical worker to assist the wounded in emergency situations.

Also a psychologist Iryna Kucheruk delivered a training in soul-searching of oneself and others,        group cohesion, self-improvement into a fully rounded moral person,  development of personal potential for self-fulfillment and self-affirmation. Training participants mastered methods for personal characteristics diagnostics without any tests and other instrumentation assessment. In-depth and comprehensive analysis of the concept of “physical and mental health” was an important part of this event.

Spiritual Centers of Ternopil Region

The project “East and West Belong Together” also included visiting a Pilgrimage Center in Zarvanytsia, Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra and St. Anna’s Spring by the students from Luhansk and Donetsk.
