TNMU Long-Term Partner Peter Reger Received a Deserved Award
On February 9, 2021, Volodymyr Trush, Head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, presented the Order of St. Panteleimon to Peter Reger, the Head of the Bielefeld Humanitarian Aid Charitable Foundation (Germany), who has closely cooperated with Ternopil National Medical University for many years for implementation of new technologies into the educational process. Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of TNMU, Professor Stepan Zaporozhyan, the Vice-Rector for Science, Education and Clinical Affairs, Ihor Haiduk, the Deputy Head of Ternopil Regional State Administration, Iryna Herelius, the Director of the Charity Foundation, Svitlana Bespopovtseva, the Head of the Office of Ternopil Regional State Administration Tetiana Skarlosh, the Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, took part at this solemn event.
The Bielefeld Humanitarian Aid Charitable Foundation, headed by Peter Reger, has been helping Ukrainian hospitals and physicians for 25 years. Every year the representatives of the fund together with other patrons deliver a number of cargoes to Ukraine. This assistance is cleared through customs and distributed to various social organizations and low-income people.
“Equipment of medical institutions is conducted annually with the support of Peter Reger and the Charity Foundation charitable organization. At the time of the pandemic, when medicine was exposed to an unknown virus, the Charitable Foundation continued to support our doctors. Peter Reger is always ready to respond and help. Not by words, but by actions, he confirms that there is nothing more important than human life,” said Volodymyr Trush.
Mykhaylo Korda added that the cooperation between the Bielefeld Foundation and Ternopil Medical University was highly productive. “For our part, we are helping the hospital in Ilavche, which was opened by Peter Reger who takes care of it till date. There is a special need for physical rehabilitation specialists, as most patients are elderly. A specialty of Physical Therapy. Ergoteparia is taught at our university. Accordingly, teachers and students help taking care of these patients as well as our dentists do. Peter Reger assisted us to set up a Centre for Medical Simulation at TNMU. We are sincerely grateful for this long-term cooperation and hope for its extension,” said Mykhaylo Mykhailovych.
For his part, Peter Reger emphasized that he never set a goal to receive awards or trophies. He assured that he does everything with all his heart. “this cooperation has made us closer. And we fell in love with Ukrainians, in particular with Ternopil region,” said Peter Reger.
The award ceremony Order of St. Panteleimon and Medal of St. Panteleimon took place on August 9, 2020 at the Parkovyi capital exhibition centre. Peter Reger was could not attend the event.
