TNMU is One of the Fifteen Best Universities of Ukraine in the World SCImago Institutions Ranking
Ternopil National Medical University is the second among medical universities of Ukraine and fourteenth – among Ukrainian institutions of higher education according to this year’s SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), a world ranking of academic and research institutions.
Since 2009, this international ranking of educational and research institutions has been published. The global report is prepared by the SCImago research group. SCImago Institutions Rankings performs a general analysis of scientific publications and other of institutions’ performance, and thus provides comparisons between different institutions.
SCImago Institutions Rankings is a scientometric rating. The only demand for institutions is the presence of at least 100 publications of any type, indexed by Scopus for 5 years and preceding the year of publication of the rating.
SCImago SIR evaluates scientific organizations on 17 indicators, which combine three groups of indicators based on research, innovation and public influence.
Components of research evaluation:
- Normalized Impact – the indicator shows the citation of the organization relative to the world average. Excellence with Leadership – the share of publications in which the author of the institution is the first author in the list of authors. Outputs – the number of publications indexed in Scopus. Scientific Leadership – the number of publications in which the author is a staff member of the institution. Not Own Journals – the number of publications of university researchers not in its own journals. Own Journals – the number of journals published by the institution (publishing services). Excellence – the indicator determines the share of publications of the organization, which are in the top 10% of the most cited publications in the relevant subject. High Quality Publications – the share of journals published in the first quartile (top 25%) by relevant subject. International Collaboration – the share of publications co-authored with foreign organizations. Open Access – the percentage of documents published in open access journals or indexed in the Unpaywall database. Scientific Talent Pool – the total number of different authors from the institution in the total amount of publications of this institution over a definite period of time.
Components of of innovative performance evaluation:
Innovative Knowledge – the number of scientific publications from the institution, cited in patents. Technological Impact – the percentage of scientific publications cited in patents. Patents – the number of patent applications.
Components of public impact assessment:
Altmetrics – the altmetry indicator is calculated on 10% of documents of institutions (the best documents concerning the regulated cost of influence). This indicator has two components: PlumX Metrics – the number of documents that are mentioned more than once in PlumX Metrics (https://plumanalytics.com). Mentions on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, news and comments (Reddit, Slideshare, Vimeo or YouTube) are taken into account; Mendeley – the number of documents that have more than one reader in Mendeley (https://www.mendeley.com).
Number of Backlinks – the number of networks (sub-networks) forming incoming links to the institution’s website.
Web size is the number of pages associated with an institution’s URL according to Google (https://www.google.com).
