National and International Research and Training Conference “Topical Issues of Contemporary Obstetrics and Gynaecology” was held in TNMU

On April 8-9, 2021, National and International Research and Training Conference “Topical Issues of Contemporary Obstetrics and Gynaecology” was held in I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. Due to the world pandemic and challenging epidemiological situation in our region, the meeting of scientists took place online.

Over two thousand leading experts from different parts of Ukraine and the world, including Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, as well as from Brussels (Belgium) took part in the conference. 52 reports were presented and discussed during the meetings.

During the conference, within cooperation with the Belgian Centre for Reproductive Medicine (Brussels, Belgium), a master class was held on “The latest reproductive technologies of the Belgian Centre for Reproductive Medicine”.

Reports during the training sessions were presented by:

Prof. Dr. Herman Tournaye, “Do we perform too much ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection)?”;

Prof. Dr.Christophe Blockeel, “Individualization of ovarian stimulation”;

Prof. Dr. Willem Verpoest “Should we offer PGT to all our patients?”;

Prof. Dr. Shari Mackens “How to approach recurrent implantation failure?”;

Dr. Liese Boudry “How to treat poor responders?”;

Dr. Valerie Schutyser  “Oocyte Pick-up and Embryo transfer – Best Practices”;

Prof. Dr. Michel De Vos “IVM as an alternative for IVF?”;

Dr. Veerle Vloeberghs “Results of ART with testicular sperm in non-obstructive azoospermia”.

During the conference a section on Women’s Reproductive Health also took part. Professor Alla Boichuk presented the report on “Menopause Management: Efficacy and Safety Profile of Femostone”.  Other reports were also presented by TNMU researchers in obstretics and gynaecology.

The videoconference format allowed not only verbal presenting the scientific achievements of the participants, but also it was a platform for scientific discussion, joint watching and fruitful debate of videos and presentations. To date, the number of views of the conference has reached 6010.
