Conference “Professional and Communicative Culture of the Future Physician: Linguistic, Pedagogical and Philosophical Aspects” at TNMU

On June 3-4, 2021, the 2nd International Research and Training Conference “Professional and Communicative Culture of the Future Physician: Linguistic, Pedagogical and Philosophical Aspects” was held in I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The scientific event was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of TNMU. Due to the world pandemic and challenging epidemiological situation in the region, the meeting of scientists took place online.

Lead experts from all over Ukraine and the world took part in the scientific meeting, i.e. Kyiv, Drohobych, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Berlin, Hamburg (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), Sofia (Bulgaria), Prague (Czech Republic), Trnava (Slovakia). 40 scientific reports were presented and discussed during the conference.

Professor Ivan Klishch, the Vice-Rector for Research, welcomed the conference participants on behalf of Professor Mykhailo Korda, the rector of TNMU, and wished success and fruitful work to the participants of the scientific meeting.

Professor Nadiia Fedchyshyn, the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages of TNMU, also welcomed the participants of the scientific forum. She noted that in modern market relations the need for highly qualified specialists in medicine having a high level of professional and communicative culture with thorough theoretical training is increasing.

Professor Olena Lokshyna, Doctor of Pedagogy, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences (NAPS) of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Comparative Pedagogy of the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAPS of Ukraine, appreciated the long-term cooperation and invitation to co-organize the conference.

Olena Ihorivna noted that in the context of globalization challenges and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Union is adapting its education development strategy and we should follow these changes as well.

Tetiana Pantiuk, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor of General Pedagogy and Preschool Education of Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University, presented a report on “Transformation of personal values in the context of globalization, informatization, technology”.

Olha Tsaryk, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Western Ukrainian National University, presented a report on “Scientific Communication in Globalization and Transformation”.

Professor Anatolii Vykhrushch, Doctor of Pedagogy, the Head of the Department of the Ukrainian Language of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, expanded on the communicative culture of freshmen.

Tatiana Khvalyboha, Doctor of Pedagogy, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, presented a report on “The essence and specifics of professional development of graduates of US universities in residency”.

The second plenary session was in the German language. The meeting brought together scientists from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Dietrich Benner, a professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin (Berlin, Germany), presented the report “Ethical and moral competence as part of public education”.

Roumiana Nikolova and Stanislav Ivanov (Hamburg, Germany) focused on the ethical and moral components of development of professional and communicative culture of the future specialist in Germany, noting that similar issues are urgent for every society today.

PhD Румяна Ніколова (Roumiana Nikolova) та Станіслав Іванов (Stanislav Ivanov) (Гамбург, Німеччина), зосередили свою увагу на етичному та моральному складниках формування професійно-комунікативної культури майбутнього фахівця в Німеччині, зазначивши, що аналогічні проблеми сьогодні стоять на порядку денному кожного громадянського суспільства.

The presentation “Tasks of Christian Ethics in Schools in Ukraine” by Professor Nadiia Fedchyshyn covered the same urgent issues in Ukraine that scholars and educators from European countries are trying to solve, as the school is central in development of critical thinking and intercultural dialogue. Thus successful implementation of the tasks of moral and religious education cannot go without reassessing the role of school subjects of Christian Ethics or Ethics.

Andrej Rajský and Martin Brestovansky, the Associate Professors of the University of Trnava (Trnava, Slovakia) offered the participants of the scientific forum their scientific research on “Ethical background in the educational system of Slovakia and European countries”.

Naděžda Pelcová and Zbinek Zicha, the Associate Professors of Charles University, Prague,  Czech Republic expanded on “Ethical Education – Development, Analysis, Perspectives in the Educational System of the Czech Republic”.

Professor Darius Stepkowski, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (Warsaw, Poland), presented a report on “Education in Poland”.

On June 4, sectional meetings were held; they joined teachers, PhD students and students.

Professor Nadiia Fedchyshyn expressed gratitude to the university management for assistance and organization of the conference, to co-organizers and guests of the conference as well as all participants and partners of the scientific forum.

The format of the videoconference allowed participants not only to present their scientific achievements, but also became a platform for scientific discussion, joint viewing and fruitful debate on videos and presentations.
