The Winners of the Regional Contest for the St. Panteleimon Order and Medal have Received Their Awards
Just the day before the Day of the Medical Worker an awarding ceremony for medical workers of our region took place in the T. Shevchenko Ternopil Academic Regional Ukrainian Drama Theater. Diplomas, thanks, valuable gifts were presented by Volodymyr Trush, the Head of Ternopil Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Holovko, the Head of Ternopil Regional Council, Ihor Hirchak, the Secretary of Ternopil City Council, Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, and Volodymyr Kuziv, the Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Trade Union of Healthcare Workers.
At the beginning of the event, the audience observed a minute of silence for all those medical workers who will never care for their patients again.
The leaders of the region and the city presented diplomas, acknowledgments, flowers and valuable gifts to medical workers for their significant personal contribution to the development of health care and high professionalism.
Volodymyr Trush express gratitude to the medical workers and noted that thanks to their efforts hundreds of lives were saved during the pandemic.
Mykhailo Holovko expressed gratitude to the doctors for their heroism and professionalism on behalf of all the deputies of the Ternopil Regional Council.
Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, congratulated medical workers of Ternopil region on the holiday. He stressed that during the beginning of the pandemic the teaching staff was actively involved in overcoming the coronavirus infection. Teacher and student volunteers were also ready to strengthen the medical corps of the region at the first need. The university has improved the efficiency of the Regional Laboratory Centre with specialists and equipment. The university rector also expressed gratitude to doctors, nurses and laboratory assistants for their dedicated work during the pandemic and for saving people’s lives.
- Mykhaylo Korda and Volodymyr Trush presented awards to eleven health care workers who won at the regional contest for the St. Panteleimon Order:
- “Best Doctor” nomination – Serhii Hariian, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine, the Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Ternopil University Hospital;
- “Health Innovator” nomination – Volodymyr Shkrobot, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine, the Chief Physician of Ternopil Municipal Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital;
- “Exemplar of Service to Society” nomination – Mykhailo Andreychyn, the Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology of TNMU;
- “For achievements in international cooperation in health care” nomination – Oksana Shevchuk, the Head of the Research Office of TNMU;
- “Best Medical Worker” nomination – Iryna Medvedieva, the Head of the Nursing Council, the Head of the Association of Medical Specialists of the Mother and Child Medical Centre, Honoured Worker of Health Care of Ukraine, the Deputy Chair of the Association of Nurses in Ternopil Region;
- “The best manager in the field of health care” nomination – Liubomyr Synoverskyi, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine, the Chief Physician of Bilche-Zolote Regional Physiotherapeutic and Rehabilitation Hospital.
Also “For a significant contribution to the development of health care in Ukraine” nomination (for foreigners since 2019) – Mogens Bügge (Sweden), a cardiac surgeon; “The best team of the health care institution” nomination – Zalishchyky Central District Hospital.
The winners for the award of the St. Panteleimon Medal were: “For the Art of Medicine” nomination – Iryna Sarapuk, neonatologist, the lecturer of the Department of Pediatrics No.2 of TNMU; “For care and kindness to the patient” nomination – Tetiana Dmytriv, senior nurse of the Department of Intensive Care Anaesthesiology of Monastyryska Central District Hospital.
Ihor Hirchak, the Secretary of Ternopil City Council, presented mayor’s honorary acknowledgments as well as the awards for public service to the city medical workers of the region.
