TNMU has Signed the Updated Magna Charta Universitatum
Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of Ternopil National Medical University, has recently (2021) signed the updated Magna Charta Universitatum, reaffirming the affiliation of our university to the academic community that overcomes political and social barriers and forms vectors of integration into the society that provides all citizens the rights and freedom regarding culture, science and education. This document confirms the readiness of TNMU, according to the provisions of the charter, to continue joining into educational and scientific activities together with world scientists. Our university joined the Grand Charter of Universities in 2015.
The Magna Charta Universitatum is a declaration and approval of the basic principles on which the mission of universities should be based, adopted and signed in 1988 on the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna. Its first principle is independence: research and teaching must be intellectually and morally independent of all political influences and economic interests. The second is that teaching and research are inseparable, and students seek to enrich the mind with knowledge and its better perception. The third principle defined the university as a place for free research and debate characterized by openness to dialogue and rejection of intolerance.
