TNMU Establishes Cooperation with the Clinical Facilities of the City of Bautzen

On August 30, 2021, a delegation from the German city of Bautzen visited Ternopil National Medical University. Michael Haritsch, the Mayor, Uwe Wunderlich, the Head of the Department of International Affairs, Ivona Neumann, the Head of the Department of Education met with Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of TNMU, to discuss areas of cooperation.

Mykhaylo Mykhailovych presented to the guests the university achievements, scientific, educational and international accomplishments.

Michael Haritsch, the Mayor of Bautzen, noted that there are nine medical clinics in their city, one of which is funded by the community. There are also 70 emergency teams within the community.

Bautzen’s mayor is interested in higher medical education in Ternopil for young people of their city. Thus, the community would provide scholarships for them.

The city also has sanatorium clinics where young people receive secondary professional education in the specialties of ergotherapy, physical therapy, public health and others. Accordingly, one of the areas of cooperation may be student exchange programmes and internships of TNMU students at Bautzen clinical facilities.

The possible joint research was also discussed during the meeting. The guests had the opportunity to visit the research laboratories of our university.

Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the rector of TNMU, was invited by the Bautzen delegation to visit the city and personally study the suggested opportunities.
