Manchester Medical School (the UK) is a Future Twinning Partner for TNMU
The second meeting between representatives of the Medical School of Manchester University (UK) and I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (Ukraine) was very efficient and productive.
Rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University professor Mykhaylo Korda and Head of Research Office professor Oksana Shevchuk discussed immediate and long-term needs for twinning cooperation with representatives from the University of Manchester: professor Margaret Kingston – Director of Undergraduate Medical Studies of Division of Medical Education in the School of Medical Sciences (Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health); clinical professor Minal Singh of School of Medical Sciences from the Division of Medical Education and Academic Lead for Assessment for the Manchester MBChB Programme professor Harish Thampy.



The meeting was organized by of Cormack Consultancy group assistances Gintaras Steponavicius, Director (CEE +) and Vytenis Fuks.
The following agreement have been reached:
– Memorandum of Understanding details will be discussed and agreed for the future cooperation in twining.
– Introductory calls will be arranged regarding the assistance and support in the area of assessment training (designing MCQs, the scenarios of OSCE, etc.) and the directions for programs of clinical teaching development, new teaching techniques, especially clinical study and learning, and clinical case-based teaching. It will allow finding the gaps and points of collaboration and Manchester Medical School assistance.
– The opportunity for short-term fellowships for staff was discussed to gain and implement the experience of teachers at Manchester Medical School, including simulation learning and study.
– The opportunity for short-term clinical fellowships for graduate students was discussed also.
Cormack Consultancy group announced that the Linda Hall Library has joined the Twinning scheme, granting its resources to all Ukrainian twinned institutions. The Linda Hall Library is an independent library founded in 1946 and located in Kansas City (US). The Library’s General Collection in the area of the life sciences would be a valuable resource for study. As part of the twinning process, the TNMU could access academic resources through arrangements put in place by SCONUL (the UK University Librarian Association).
We would like to address the words of appreciation to Charles Cormack and his Team. We hope for successful collaboration in twinning with Manchester University Team.
We thank a lot for unprecedented support. Twinning initiative for UK universities together with Cormack Consultancy group will help restore the Ukrainian higher education system and reduce the impact of the war on Ukrainian institutions, and their staff and students.
