TNMU Volunteer Centre Received Humanitarian Aid from the American Community

On June 3, 2022, the Volunteer Centre of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University received a humanitarian consignment from the American community. This was made possible by the initiative of Varshavsky family (New York, USA). Two sons of this family are studying at TNMU at the Institute of Nursing: Robert is receiving a master’s degree, and Daniel is a first-year bachelor’s degree student. Our students saw information about the activities of TNMU Volunteer Centre and decided to help us.

This family in the United States persuaded the American community to unite to help Ukraine. They rented a warehouse to store humanitarian aid. The American activist community buys medicines, medical supplies, food, etc. with its own money. They receive inquiries from volunteer centres in Ukraine and try to meet their needs. US citizens deliver what is needed through Poland to Lviv in a logistics hub. Logistics was provided by the director of the Academic and Research Institute of Nursing, Professor Svitlana Yastremska.

In total, TNMU received 1,717 kg of goods, with 1,392 kg of medicines, 55 kg of personal hygiene products, 280 kg of food.

During this week, a significant part of these products has already been sent to military units, military hospitals, most of which work and defend Ukraine in the “hottest” points of hostilities.
