TNMU Students Mastered First Aid Skills with the Instructors from Spain
The representatives of the “TEAM 8” team are former soldiers of the Spanish Legion, paratroopers and army special forces. They have more than twenty years of military service experience and have been security agents in various countries around the world (Nigeria, Persian Gulf, Somalia, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan) for seven consecutive years. Team members teach the civilian population the basics of first aid, tactical medicine, self-defense, and military-tactical training. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, they came to Ukraine and actively helped the “K9” demining teams, brought several medical backpacks for service dogs.
For two days (October 20-21, 2022), students of Ternopil National Medical University had the opportunity to undergo training from representatives of “TEAM 8” and gain practical first aid skills. Each participant received a personal certificate at the end of the course.

“This is very important for us now, because at such a time you never know what might happen and who will need help. It is good to know everything theoretically, but it is also important to be properly organized and take all the necessary actions without haste. The university has a course on first aid, but it never hurts to be reminded again and practice the skills. The first aid training organized by paramedics from Spain had a special atmosphere. We had the opportunity to try applying tourniquets, practice the technique of wound tamponing. We practiced technique and speed of performance. In general, Spaniards are very open people. Of course, an interpreter was needed, but despite this, all the important points were clear. The training lasted four hours, which passed very quickly. We express our appreciation to Olena Volodymyrivna Pokryshko for the opportunity to be a participant in such an event, it was great!”, Ruslana Khrustavka shared her impressions.
