On October 27, 2022, the mobile paediatric team of Ternopil National Medical University visited the charitable organization “House of Mercy” in Chortkiv. The purpose of the visit was a general examination and providing an advisory opinion on the state of health of the inmates of the institution. The visiting team consisted of specialists of various specialities. It included associate professors of the Department of Paediatric Diseases and Paediatric Surgery, including paediatricians Tamara Vorontsova, Svitlana Nikitiuk, Vira Synytska, Iryna Chornomydz, professor Olha Fedortsiv, orthopaedist Mykhailo Protsailo, paediatric surgeons Pavlo Hoshchynskyi and Volodymyr Dzhyvak.
The team of doctors also included professor of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry Nataliia Hevkaliuk, senior laboratory assistant and postgraduate student Khrystyna Shkliar, intern dentist Ihor Bobrov, Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology Olha Liutata, intern of this Department Anastasia Horodianska, Assistant Professor of the Department of Neurology Nataliia Shalabai, interns of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology and Neurosurgery Oleh Bachynskyi and Yana Stadnyk.

The institution houses children who live there alone or with their parents. In addition, there are internally displaced families. Residents of the city also came to the examination. A total of 40 children were examined, of which 5 were referred for operative treatment, 14 for inpatient treatment, and 4 – for consultation with a narrow specialist.
The director of the House of Mercy, Maria Andrukhova, recalled the team’s previous visit to the facility three years ago. “This is the second visit of your team from the university. Then it was a very useful visit. This team of specialists examined many children, many of whom were taken to the dentist in Ternopil. When a mother came, she was greeted as someone really close. We were received and we felt needed,” the head of the institution said with gratitude.
Mrs. Maria says that the benefit of this year’s visit is no less important: “The team’s consultation is necessary so as not to miss anything. Our children are special and therefore medical support is a blessing. I believe that more than one child today will be recommended something that will help them in their development.”
TNMU Vice-Rector for Science, Education and Clinical Affairs, Professor Stepan Zaporozhan added that the university will help bring the students of this institution who will need additional examination to Ternopil and provide the necessary services.
After completing the inspection and providing recommendations for the team of the mobile brigade, the director of Chortkiv Vocational Medical College, Liubomir Bilyk, organized a tour of the educational institution, which was conducted by the head of the educational and methodological department Petro Irkha. And after the excursion, the doctors visited the Orthodox Church of the Holy Intercession, where Father Mykhailo shared the history of the church and toured the territory.
