Pharma Trend 2023 Webinar “E-prescriptions As Modern Reality of Pharmacists”

On March 28, 2023, teachers of the Pharmacy Management and Economics course took an active part in an educational online webinar for pharmacists organized by APTEKA Weekly in partnership with Sandoz with the support of Morion and Proxima Research.

Expert on pharmaceutical issues, head of the business analysis group of the “Electronic prescription” project of the SE “Elektronne Zdrovia” Iryna Lishtaba presented information in an accessible form about the peculiarities of the circulation of paper and e-prescriptions in Ukraine during the war period. Today, Ukraine is undergoing a transitional period regarding innovations in the procedure for prescribing and dispensing pharmaceuticals to patients, and from April 1, 2023, the third stage regarding the introduction of e-prescription circulation will be implemented. Doctors, pharmacists, and patients have many questions regarding the specifics of the implementation of these nationwide measures on the ground, in the event that the lights are turned off, the lack of technical capabilities in both pharmacies and polyclinic departments, etc. It was possible to find answers to the most common questions of pharmaceutical specialists with the help of an active discussion during an online webinar. In the discussion part of the presentation, attention was focused on the errors that most often occur when working with the EHS when processing electronic prescriptions; on the nuances of dispensing a smaller amount of drugs by e-prescription; as well as on the patient’s ability to receive medication if the SMS with the e-prescription code is lost or if such code turns out to be incorrect.

Peculiarities of repayment of e-prescriptions and the possibility of partial dispensing of medicines.

The acquired knowledge will be used by the teachers of the course in the educational process during the teaching of the discipline “Organization and Economics of Pharmacy” to 4th-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and to update and modernize the educational and methodological documentation on the topics “Prescription drug dispensing” and “Modern information systems in pharmacy”.

We express our appreciation to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to live, study and work for the Glory of Ukraine!
