Psychotherapist from the USA Visiited TNMU

During March 24-27, 2023, Yulia Brockford, a volunteer psychotherapist from the USA, arrived in Ternopil on a working visit. During her stay in Ukraine, Yulia visited the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of the Ternopil National Medical University to share her experience.

Yulia Brockford has been working with the trauma-focused psychotherapy method EMDR for many years and is engaged in the treatment of combatants. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Yulia began to actively engage in volunteer activities, as well as teach this method to colleagues from Ukraine.

During her stay in Ternopil, Yulia held a workshop for psychiatrists of the Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital, talked with servicemen undergoing treatment at this medical facility, and discussed with the students and interns studying at the department the main aspects of psychotherapeutic interventions for patients who have experienced traumatic events.

The staff of the department express their appreciation to Ms. Yulia for her high professionalism, sensitivity and desire to improve the quality of assistance to those who are currently defending our state. With joint efforts, we will certainly win and make our country truly strong and indomitable.
