Th Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology Took Part in the Conference “Mental and Psychological Disorders during War: Treatment and Rehabilitation”

On May 24-25, 2023, the Head of TNMU Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology Olena Wenher took part in the conference with international participation “Mental and psychological disorders during war: treatment and rehabilitation”, which was organized by the state institution “Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” and the Public Organization “Association of Neurologists, Psychiatrists and Narcologists of Ukraine”.

As part of the scientific and applied conference, the following issues were considered: the state of mental health of the population of Ukraine in the conditions of war; mental trauma during the war and its impact on the health of the population; peculiarities of providing medical care to patients with mental and drug-related disorders during wartime; psychological assistance to forced migrants, children, elderly people with mental and behavioral disorders; psychosocial rehabilitation of victims and the most vulnerable population groups; psychiatric and narcological assistance to military personnel during war.

At the plenary session during the event, Professor Olena Venher presented a report on the topic “Principles of affective disorders diagnosis and therapy in military personnel.”

In general, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, medical psychologists, narcologists, family medicine doctors, health care management organizers, social workers took part in the conference, which was held online; there were heated discussions of the presented reports and of current issues in the field of mental health during martial law.
