Associate Professors of TNMU Department of Public Health and Health Care Management Participated in the “Academy of Global Health” Seminar

On June 28 – July 7, 2023, a scientific and practical seminar “Academy of Global Health” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty and Astana Medical University (Republic of Kazakhstan). The event was organized within the framework of the project “Building Academic Capacity in Global Health in the Eastern Europe-Central Asia Region, BACE” under the Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE program. TNMU is a partner in this project.

Yurii Petrashyk and Nataliia Slobodian, Associate Professors of the Department of Public Health and Health Care Management of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, are among the participants of the above-mentioned BACE project and participants of the recent event.

This seminar was an intermediate stage of large-scale cooperation between nine universities from five countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Norway and Germany) with the aim of building academic potential in the field of global health and developing the curriculum “Research methods in the field of global health” for masters, post-graduate students, interns.

During the event, with the aim of increasing the potential of teachers in pedagogical and methodological approaches, the participants independently read and listened to lectures and presentations of colleagues, participated in discussions.

Assoc. Prof. Yurii Petrashyk conducting a demonstration class on the topic “Benefits/risks of physical activity/inactivity.”

Classes were held on the following topics: “Basics of non-communicable diseases”, “Physical activity and non-communicable diseases”, “Availability/implementation of policies on NCDs”, “Monitoring/surveillance of NCDs on a global scale”, “Financing mechanisms for measures to combat non-communicable diseases”, etc. After each lecture, there were discussions about the practical teaching of the material.

During the group discussions, the participants of the seminar discussed the peculiarities and methods of teaching the material to students in the presented educational institutions. After the seminar, plans and tasks for further cooperation between the project participants were discussed.
