TNMU Simulation Training Centre Is the First in Ukraine to Be Accredited by the Society for Simulation in Europe
On August 11, 2023, the Simulation Training Centre of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University received a certificate of accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM). For the first time in Ukraine, the centre, in which students master practical skills with the help of simulation technologies, is recognized at the European level. This means that TNMU Simulation Training Centre meets international standards, and its accreditation confirms the high quality of training. The Society for Simulation in Europe is an independent body and recognized international opinion leader in the field of simulation training methods in health care.

The preparation and submission of the application for accreditation at TNMU began back in 2019, when the team of our Simulation Centre first filled out the application form and sent it to SESAM. The application form consists of more than 10 sections, in which you need to describe in detail the simulation technologies that are used, the material and technical facilities, etc.
Accreditation of such centres involves a visit by experts who come to personally familiarize themselves with the capabilities of the simulation centre. At the end of 2019, a pandemic began, and in 2022, a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine. Accordingly, the arrival of experts in Ukraine was limited. In March 2023, Vitor Almeida from Portugal visited TNMU Simulation Training Centre as an expert and organized a training course on its basis (more details here: https://dev.tdmu.edu.ua/en/2023/03/07/doctors-from-portugal-shared-their-practical-experience-with-ukrainian-colleagues/). He had the opportunity to personally check technologies, equipment, training programs and personnel for compliance with European standards.
Therefore, Vitor Almeida and the president of SESAM, Francisco Mayo Matos, confirmed the high level of work and equipment of TNMU Simulation Training Centre .
Accreditation of the centre opens access to educational resources, archival documents, and its specialists receive a discount for editing and publishing articles in specialized international publications, a discount for participation in international congresses.
