TNMU Representatives Participated in the World Health Summit-2023
As part of international cooperation between I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University and Akkon University of Human Sciences in Berlin (https://www.akkon-hochschule.de/) and with the support of the Institute for Research in International Assistance (IRIA), the Head of TNMU Department of Public Health and Health Care Management, Professor Hanna Saturska and fourth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine Anastasia Budarna took part in the World Health Summit – 2023, which took place in Berlin on October 15-17, 2023.

Representatives of Ternopil Medical University had the opportunity to participate in satellite international forums in Berlin: the 6th German-East European Healthcare Symposium and the 5th International Young Researchers’ Symposium on Global Health 2023, which also took place in Berlin on October 13-14, 2023.
The World Health Summit, traditionally held in Berlin, is one of the leading strategic forums in the field of health care in the world. This year, the World Health Summit – 2023 held 63 sessions with representatives of 106 countries, 370 speakers and 3,500 participants directly at the venue in Berlin, and more than 12,000 participants were registered to join the event online.
The World Health Summit was held under the patronage of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. This unique international strategic global health event annually brings together a large number of stakeholders from the fields of politics, science, the private sector and civil society from around the world to create the conditions for a healthier future, to make innovative decisions to improve health and prosperity for all.
TNMU scientists had the opportunity to participate in plenary sessions, panel discussions and workshops on various current topics, which were held in 9 thematic halls.


The jubilee 5th International Young Researchers’ Symposium on Global Health 2023, which took place on the basis of the Akkon University in Berlin with the support of the Federal Ministry of Health of Germany, the Institute for Research and International Cooperation and the Koch-Mechnikov Forum, gathered more than 40 young researchers and university teachers from 14 countries of the world, as well as more than 100 online participants.
The event began with welcome speeches by the Director of the Institute for Research in International Assistance, Vice-President of the Akkon University of Human Sciences, Head of the Global Health and International Assistance in Disasters and Emergencies Program, Professor Timo Ulrichs, and Dr. Gabi Feldman, Deputy Director of the Institute for Research in International Assistance / Akkon University of Human Sciences in Berlin.


Anastasia Budarna, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine of TNMU, presented the report “The influence of the country’s economic development on the burden of diseases of the cardiovascular system”, highlighting the results of scientific research of the Department of Public Health and Health Care Management of TNMU. The report aroused keen interest among young scientists and guests of the event, the organizers also noted the high level of training of Anastasia as a young scientist and her perfect command of the English language.
