On December 7, 2023, near the Ternopil Regional Universal Scientific Library on T. Shevchenko Boulevard, a commemorative sign was placed on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the T. Shevchenko Scientific Society. The idea of its establishment belongs to the Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the Head of TNMU Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology, the Head of the Ternopil branch of the T. Shevchenko Scientific Society Mykhailo Andreichyn, who was supported by the members of the society and the Ternopil community.

During the opening, the Mayor of Ternopil Serhii Nadal noted that the T. Shevchenko Scientific Society has always united the best scientists of the Ukrainian nation. “The society has always preserved the Ukrainian idea, supported Ukrainian science, and engaged in education. We are proud that our compatriots were also its participants. The current members of this association are worthy followers of their predecessors. This commemorative sign is honour and respect from all Ternopil residents to scientists and an incentive for young beginners. I thank everyone who participated in the organization and creation of this memorial. I sincerely wish all scientists that your knowledge, experience, and practice will always be used in a peaceful country,” Serhii Nadal added.

The names and surnames of 34 active members of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society, who are natives of the Ternopil region and were elected to the organization before 1940, were engraved on the granite.

The authors of the monument were the Head of the Department of Fine Arts and Design, Maria Markovych, and the national artist, Professor of the Department, Roman Vilhushynskyi. The memorial sign was installed at the expense of patrons and members of the Ternopil branch of the T. Shevchenko Scientific Society.
