The Third Traditional Charity Concert for the Residents of the Petrykiv Regional Geriatric Nursing Home

On October 15, 2024, the traditional charity concert took place at the Petrykiv Regional Geriatric Nursing Home, organized by TNMU physical therapy students – Solomiia Hyz, Nelia Humeniuk, and Mykhailo Stavnychyi – together with the Medical Rehabilitation Department.

In his welcoming speech, the Head of the Medical Rehabilitation Department, Professor Ihor Mysula, addressed the audience: “The friendly relations between TNMU and the Petrykiv Regional Geriatric Nursing Home have lasted for many years, and each such concert is a testament to our love and respect for its residents. We will do everything to ensure that this tradition continues year after year.”

Talented students started the musical part of the event: Mykhailo Stavnychyi, Sofiia Levytska, Iryna Sinchuk, Ivanna Sinchuk, Artem Huk, and Denys Dehtiaruk. Their songs brought positive emotions to the guests of the musical event.

The event’s highlight was the performance of Vitalii Zamohylnyi, a nursing home resident who participates in the concert every year. He performed the well-loved “Pisnya Pro Rushnyk”, warmly welcomed by the audience with applause. Vitaliy Vasylovych has become a true symbol of this event, inspiring everyone with his energy and spirit.

This year, we actively collaborated with artists from the Ternopil Regional Philharmonic, particularly the “Acord” quartet. We are sincerely grateful to them and to TNMU’s Associate Professor of the Social Disciplines Department, the head of the TNMU volunteer movement “Misericordia,” Taras Kadobnyi, for helping organize this event.

However, this event was not just about music. It was about love, care, and genuine friendship between generations. The students prepared gift packages filled with sweets and fruits for each of the 180 nursing home residents. These gifts were collected thanks to charitable donations from physical therapy students and the Department of Medical Rehabilitation staff. For each resident, these small but heartfelt tokens of attention became a special display of care, something they long for in their everyday lives.

At the concert’s end, the nursing home residents sincerely thanked the organizers for the moments of happiness they had provided. Many couldn’t hold back their tears, as these meetings reminded them of the most important thing — human warmth, which nothing can replace. The students who organized the event were also deeply touched: they were once again convinced of the importance of bringing joy to those who need it. Such events are crucial for supporting the physical and emotional well-being of the nursing home residents.

The concert, filled with Ukrainian songs, harmonious melodies, and sincere emotions, became a wonderful opportunity to unite generations and remind everyone present that music is a powerful force that brings hope and helps us move forward, no matter the challenges life presents.
