Webinar for World Diabetes Day at TNMU

On November 14, 2024, the Student Scientific Society and Young Scientists’ Council of Ternopil National Medical University organized a thematic webinar for World Diabetes Day. Held on the MS Teams platform, the event brought together students, young researchers, and others interested in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.

Opening Remarks

The webinar began with a welcome address by Professor Ivan Klishch, TNMU’s Vice-Rector for Research. He highlighted the importance of awareness and prevention of diabetes, given the rising prevalence of the condition worldwide.

Expert Presentations

The event featured expert insights from specialists in endocrinology and surgery:

Dr. Serhii Karpeniuk, a surgeon and head of the Western Wound Care Center, shared his practical experience treating neuropathic and mixed foot ulcers in diabetic patients using the TIME framework (Tissue, Infection, Moisture, Edge).

Dr. Liudmyla Mazur, an endocrinologist and Associate Professor at the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care, and Clinical Immunology, discussed modern approaches to preventing diabetes and its complications. She emphasized the significance of a healthy lifestyle, regular glucose monitoring, and early disease detection.

After the presentations, attendees actively participated in a Q&A session with the speakers. The discussions proved valuable, covering both theoretical insights and practical advice.
