On November 13, 2024, TNMU Student Scientific Society hosted a topical scientific discussion titled “Gender Transition as a Path to Personal Identity.”

Debate Highlights

Two teams presented opposing views on the subject:

The “For” Team

Advocated for the right of every individual to choose their gender identity, emphasizing that freedom of gender choice is an essential component of personal autonomy.

Participants: Anastasiia Sverhun (MM-502), Oksana Safronova (MM-212), Mariia Styranka (MM-207), and Maryna Chyrko (MM-212)

Captain: Olesia Lemishka (MM-502)

The “Against” Team

Focused on the importance of preserving biological identity and traditional values, raising concerns about the social, psychological, and medical consequences of gender transition.

Participants: Anastasiia Radko (MM-508), Solomiia Kiselyk (MM-409), Danyil Barytskyi (MM-316), Anhelina Lototska (MM-313), and Oleksandra Kutsevol (MM-207)

Captain: Nazar Koliasa (MM-416)

Results

The jury awarded victory to the “For” team, while the audience favored the “Against” team. This tied outcome highlights the contentious nature of the topic, which remains open for further debate.
