A Day at TNMU for Schoolchildren of Ternopil School No. 26

Ternopil Secondary School No. 26 schoolchildren visited Ternopil National Medical University to explore medical and pharmaceutical specialties. They were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Ivan Klishch, and admissions representative Hryhoriy Zahrychuk, who engaged in a lively discussion with them.

The visit began at the university’s Morphology Building. Professor Zoya Nebesna, Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology and Director of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Morphology, introduced the schoolchildren to the institute’s structure and departments. With Assistant Nataliia Ohinska, she guided the students through lecture halls and teaching labs, giving them a hands-on experience of the learning process. The schoolchildren also explored educational disciplines taught at the department and experimented with histological specimens. Additionally, they visited the morphological sector of the Interdepartmental Educational-Scientific Laboratory Center, where they learned about modern histological research methods.

At the Simulation Center’s “Educational Pharmacy,” Associate Professor Liliya Budniak and Assistant Nadіia Malanchuk from the Department of Management and Pharmacy Economics demonstrated the center’s facilities. The schoolchildren observed the organization of pharmacy operations, the dispensing of over-the-counter drugs, and the specifics of storing pharmaceuticals.

In the Medical Products Training Room, under the guidance of Associate Professor Anastasiia Dub, schoolchildren interacted with modern medical equipment. They explored various medical devices, their uses, safety protocols, and the pharmaceutical care pharmacists provide when dispensing medical products.

Lastly, Associate Professor Iryna Ivanusa from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry introduced schoolchildren to core and elective courses offered by the department. She explained laboratory safety rules, demonstrated chemical reactions, and encouraged students to participate actively in the experiments.

This immersive day gave the schoolchildren valuable insights into the academic and practical aspects of medical and pharmaceutical education at TNMU.
