Charity Workshop for the Needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On the initiative of TNMU student Andriy Svirzhevskyi, a candleholder painting workshop was organized in the university library ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. The event’s main goal was to raise funds for paraffin, which is essential for producing trench candles.

Glass candleholders with remnants of paraffin were donated to a volunteer workshop by Tamara Vorontsova, an Associate Professor at the Department of Pediatric Diseases and Pediatric Surgery. The paraffin was used for its intended purpose, leaving the glass holders unused. Laboratory assistants from the Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology, Nelya and Natalia Sobko, cleaned the glass holders while invited artists painted some as examples for workshop participants.

The workshop attracted schoolchildren, students, teachers, and residents of Ternopil, who enthusiastically decorated the glass candleholders.

Some participants took their creations home as mementos for the upcoming holidays. In contrast, others left them as donations to be sold at a January fair, with proceeds going toward helpful equipment for the 105th Brigade.

The artists carefully explained and demonstrated each step of the candleholder creation process while encouraging participants to express their creativity. As a result, each candleholder became a unique piece of art.

The artistic mentors of the event included:

Oksana Martynyuk, an artist and art teacher,

Iryna Tyutyunnyk, a Candidate of Art History and Associate Professor at the Department of Fine Arts, Design, and Teaching Methods at Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University (TNPU),

Maryana Dyachynska, an assistant in the same department.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to TNMU students and faculty, schoolchildren from School No. 23, and members of the “Faina Sitka” and “I Am Mariupol” initiatives for their donations of paraffin. Special thanks were also extended to Olena Protsiv and all staff of the TNMU library for their warm hospitality and participation in the event.
