Participation of TNMU Representatives in the Workshop “Rehabilitation Workforce Groups”

On February 24-26, 2025, the first workshop on “Rehabilitation Workforce Groups” was held in Kyiv, organized by the WHO and dedicated to assessing rehabilitation workforce resources in Ukraine. The event was based on the WHO’s Guidelines on Rehabilitation Workforce Assessment and aimed to analyze the current situation, identify needs, and develop strategies to enhance human resources in this field.

The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology of Ternopil National Medical University—Olena Venher and Olha Lyuta—who participated as specialists in psychological care.

During the workshop, key aspects of assessing rehabilitation workforce resources were discussed, along with the main challenges and directions for developing this sector in Ukraine. The university representatives shared their experience in providing psychological support in rehabilitation processes, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the need for specialized training for professionals working with patients requiring rehabilitation.

Special attention was given to the pressing issues of training qualified specialists. Discussions focused on the need to improve educational programs, implement modern teaching methods, and enhance the practical training of specialists. A key aspect was forming effective rehabilitation teams, including psychologists, psychotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, speech therapists, and other health restoration experts.

Participation in the event provided valuable experience, familiarized participants with international approaches to assessing rehabilitation workforce resources, and contributed to developing strategies for this sector in Ukraine.
