Excursion of TNMU Faculty of Pharmacy Students to the Botanical Garden of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University
As part of their educational internship in pharmacognosy, second- and third-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at TNMU, accompanied by lecturers from the Department of Pharmacognosy with Medical Botany and led by the head of the department, Professor Svitlana Marchyshyn, visited the botanical garden of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University on April 26, 2025. The garden was established back in 1929 by the renowned Polish and Ukrainian scientist, botanist, and founder of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany at the Lviv Medical Institute, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Tadeusz Wilczyński.
Rostyslav Hulko, Director of the Botanical Garden, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany of Lviv National Medical University, conducted an engaging and informative tour for the students and lecturers from Ternopil. He introduced them to the collections and exhibits of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, as well as to tropical and exotic plants cultivated in the garden’s greenhouse.
The students also had the opportunity to interact with Roman Lesiuk, Assistant at the Department of Pharmacognosy and Botany and Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The Lviv Botanical Garden serves as a training base for the practical education of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at LNMU. It is used for the study, conservation, and enrichment of medicinal and ornamental plant resources. The garden houses an extensive collection of plants from various continents.
We sincerely thank the administration of Lviv National Medical University for this opportunity and fruitful cooperation.
