“I’m Not Afraid of the Psychiatrist” Event at TNMU
On May 30, 2025, the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology at TNMU, in collaboration with the Ternopil Regional Psychoneurological Hospital, held a themed event “I’m Not Afraid of the Psychiatrist” as part of the national mental health program “How Are You?” initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The goal of the event was to challenge common stereotypes about psychiatry, promote an open attitude toward mental health, and encourage timely help-seeking.
The event featured:
- An open lecture on the most common mental disorders, modern treatment approaches, and the role of psychiatrists in the healthcare system;
- An interactive Q&A session and experience sharing with participants;
- A guided tour of the regional psychoneurological dispensary facilities;
- The creation of a trustful and safe space where everyone could express themselves freely and receive support;
- A myth-busting session addressing common misconceptions about psychiatry.
The event once again demonstrated that psychiatry is about care, understanding, and support — and that seeking help is a sign of strength, responsibility, and self-love.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us!
