Practice Is the Key to Confidence: A Basic Surgical Suturing Skills Workshop for Medical Students
On May 29, 2025, fourth-year medical students Diana Lytvyniuk and Tetyana Yaremyshyn organized a hands-on educational event for fellow students dedicated to acquiring basic surgical suturing skills.

The goal of the event was to provide students with an opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge of surgery in a friendly and accessible environment, learn proper instrument handling, and develop essential manual skills required by every future physician.

Participants had the opportunity to:

Learn about different types of surgical sutures and threads.
Master techniques such as the simple interrupted suture, subcuticular suture, Donati suture, and others.
Practice their skills on simulators under the guidance of the organizers.
Events like this are extremely valuable, as they allow students to get closer to real clinical practice, overcome their fear of performing first procedures, boost their confidence, and lay the foundation for future professional excellence.

Training that combines theory and practice is always a step forward toward high-quality medical education.
