Representatives of TNMU Participated in the Forum “Open Dialogue 2.0: Medical Education in the Context of EU Integration”
On July 1, 2025, the forum “Open Dialogue 2.0: Medical Education in the Context of the EU Integration Process” took place in Kyiv. The event was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Ukraine with the support of the European Union. The forum brought together leaders of medical higher education institutions, representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, international experts, and professionals in the field of medical education. The lead moderator of the forum was Serhiy Ubohov, Head of the Department for Medical Personnel, Education, and Science at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.


Ternopil National Medical University was represented at the forum by Professor Arkadii Shulhai, Vice-Rector for Science and Education, and Andrii Mashtalir, Head of the Education Department. They took part in discussions on key issues concerning the modernization of medical education in Ukraine in the context of European integration. Topics included aligning educational programs with EU standards, implementing simulation-based training, improving the quality of healthcare personnel education, and developing mechanisms for administering the international basic medical knowledge exam as part of the Unified State Qualification Exam.


The forum’s agenda included panel discussions on the challenges of European integration for Ukraine’s medical education system, the integration of modern approaches from simulation centers to clinical competency, and the role of student communities in shaping educational programs. Participants shared experiences of implementing best European practices and discussed the future directions for the development and integration of Ukrainian medical education into the European educational space.


TNMU continues to actively engage in strategic initiatives aimed at improving the training of future medical professionals and strengthening the healthcare system of Ukraine.
