In 2025, an international consortium of partner universities initiated by the Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (Georgia) (project coordinator – Ekaterina Kldiashvili) received grant funding from the European Union to implement the project “Digi-CHange” (“Digital Transformation and Curriculum Development for Healthcare Teams”) within the Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE Strand 2 – Partnerships for Transformation in Higher Education programme.
Ukraine is represented in this project by I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (coordinator from TNMU – Nataliya Lisnychuk) and M. Pyrohov Vinnytsia National Medical University (coordinator from VNMU – Oleksandr Nikolskyi). The consortium also includes:
– Ilia State University, Georgia (coordinator – Salome Shedania);
– K. Eristavi National Center for Experimental and Clinical Surgery, Georgia (coordinator and medical director – Dr. Nikoloz Chaduneli);
– Riga Technical University, Latvia (coordinator – Andrejs Romanovs, PhD, MBA);
– Dublin City University, Ireland (coordinator – Dr. Daniela Lehwaldt);
– INFOR ELEA Academy, Italy (coordinator, founder, and president – Carlo Colomba, MBA).
The main goal of the “Digi-CHange” project is the digitalization of the medical curriculum and the development of a modern concept of medical education through achieving the following objectives:
- Reform of the curriculum aimed at developing the concept of digitalization of the medical curriculum.
- Development of Digi-CHange laboratories at higher education institutions (HEIs) of partner countries.
- Creation of the Digi-CHange network for collaboration among digital skills laboratories.
- Development of AI-based simulations specific to the medical curriculum.
- Development of methodologies and tools for assessing competencies in digital health.
- Raising awareness regarding digital health.
The project’s implementation will contribute to creating a more resilient and technologically advanced healthcare system by addressing critical gaps through the digital transformation of education.
Thanks to “Digi-CHange,” an innovative, student-centered approach to education in healthcare (medicine and nursing) will be introduced. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of digital tools within the framework of educational modules.
The project is scheduled to run for three years – from 2025 to 2028.
