Три роки партнерства ТНМУ – Університет Манчестера

We are pleased to mark the third anniversary of the partnership between two institutions: I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University and the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Charles Cormack and the Cormack Consultancy Group, Universities UK, and the President’s Fund for their initiative and support. British universities stood by their Ukrainian counterparts during a time of immense challenge — the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Education plays a crucial role in the country’s recovery, and it was with this mission in mind that the Twinning programme was launched.

Twinning is an initiative aimed at establishing partnerships between Ukrainian and international educational institutions, particularly in the UK, to address crisis-related challenges, and rebuild Ukraine’s higher education system using the best global practices.

Over the past years, more than a dozen teaching excellence seminars and workshops have been held for TNMU faculty, delivered by the PRiME Network of the University of Manchester. We’ve gained access to teaching resources, curricula, and the internal academic environment of the University of Manchester’s School of Medicine.

The TSMU-UoM English Speaking Club has been launched for students.

Academic mobility has also begun for students and faculty:

  • For the second year in a row, groups of five students have attended Summer Schools in Medicine at the University of Manchester.
  • Additionally, the Head of the Project Management Office from TNMU has visited the University of Manchester.

We sincerely thank Professor Margaret Kingston, Director of Undergraduate Medical Studies, Keith Brennan, Vice Dean for Internationalisation, Dr Silke Conen, Professor Jess Grundy, Dr Steven Thomson, and all others who have supported and contributed to this meaningful collaboration.
