TNMU Students – Volunteers at the All-Ukrainian Youth Orthodox Camp “Virlya-2025”
From July 12 to 24, 2025, sixth-year students of Ternopil National Medical University, Anastasiia Nikulina and Dina Shozda, spent time at the All-Ukrainian Youth Orthodox Camp “Virlya-2025.” The camp gathered over 50 participants, including 30 campers aged 14 and older.

The camp was located in a picturesque pine forest, where participants lived in tents, enjoying the fresh air, the beauty of nature, and evenings by the campfire with songs.

During the camp session, the students improved their professional skills by providing first aid and specialized medical assistance to children. They removed ticks, treated thermal burns received at the field kitchen, provided help for allergic reactions, insect bites, bruises, cuts, minor injuries, headaches, and sunstrokes.

In addition, Anastasiia and Dina delivered lectures on the first aid, taught children how to apply a tourniquet, and at the end of the session organized a quest during which the campers practiced their newly acquired skills. The students also held an open lecture on sexual education, where they discussed in detail issues of contraception, consent, personal boundaries, as well as the physiology of puberty in boys and girls.

The students took an active part in camp life, spending time in the company of wonderful people, which made this experience especially warm and unforgettable.

Communication with the children was particularly rewarding — the students felt genuine respect and trust, which inspired them to feel like real doctors and responsible individuals.

Anastasiia and Dina sincerely recommend that future students take part in this camp, as it offers not only excellent practice but also an unforgettable experience of meeting new and interesting people, communication, and teamwork.
