TNMU Students Implemented the Initiative “Ternopil – City of Donors”

On the occasion of Ternopil City Day, on August 15, 2025, a large-scale blood donation campaign and a charity fair “Iron Will. Weapon of Resilience” took place. Students of Ternopil National Medical University, together with Ternopil Regional Blood Service Center, the Serhiy Konoval Foundation, and the Ternopil City Council, organized blood type and Rh factor testing for residents and guests of the city. The initiators and main inspirers of the event were Olha Konoval and Nazarii Krulyk.

Everyone could find out their blood type for a symbolic donation to support the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine. During the charity fair, TNMU students collected 3,384 UAH for the 105th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In total, more than 80 people determined their blood type. Many others approached the organizers to learn more about blood and blood component donation.

From the TNMU student community, the following participants joined the initiative: Marta Pylypa (MM-207), Nazar Bobko (MM-301), Viktoriia Zavyslianska (MM-405), Dmytro Petrushko (MM-405), Viktoriia Miroshnyk (MM-601), Yuliia Sysiuk (MM-603), Inha Behosh (MM-307), and Uliana Naumova (MM-601).

The Blood Center provided all the necessary materials for blood type testing.

In addition, the event aimed to collect as much donor blood as possible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thanks to joint efforts, nearly 100 liters of donor blood were collected within a week. At the Ternopil Blood Service Center, within the framework of the initiative “Ternopil – City of Donors,” 218 people joined blood donation over five days, together donating 98 liters of blood.

“This is not just blood donation – it is part of a great common cause that saves lives. I urge everyone to continue becoming donors and to involve your friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Donation is a force that unites and supports,” said Olha Konoval.

Powerful informational support was provided by a well-known local activist and head of the NGO “I Am a Donor,” Oleksandr Khoma.

Together we prove: donation saves lives, and every good deed brings victory closer!
