Professor of TNMU Took Part in the EASD-2025 Congress
From September 15 to 19, 2025, the 61st Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) took place in Vienna. All the days of the EASD-2025 Congress in Austria were filled with intensive learning and professional networking with colleagues. Ternopil National Medical University was represented at this event by the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1, Professor Nadiia Pasyechko.
This year, more than 10,000 participants were registered — including physicians and researchers, endocrinologists, diabetologists, geneticists, pharmacologists, and psychologists.

The analysis of newly presented research demonstrated that diabetes management has undergone fundamental changes. In modern practice, new molecules such as GLP-1, GLP-2, and GIP are being increasingly used, along with gene engineering methods, stem cell therapy, monoclonal antibodies, and digital technologies.

Modern methods of diabetes self-monitoring are also becoming more widespread. In addition to glucometers, new technologies for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) have been introduced, allowing for real-time tracking of daily glucose fluctuations. This is extremely important for children and young patients with type 1 diabetes, pregnant women with gestational diabetes, and individuals with type 2 diabetes. Modern digital solutions in diagnostics and treatment are designed to enhance patients’ comfort, safety, and autonomy.
The goal of diabetologists is to combine scientific advances, modern technologies, and individualized patient care. This marks a new era in the fight against diabetes and the pursuit of safe longevity. New perspectives discussed by scientists include personalized medicine, integration of artificial intelligence into diabetes course prediction, development of innovative biomaterials for cell transplantation, and the creation of “smart insulin therapy.”
