Meeting with Zoryana Byndas: When Words Have a Pulse
On October 9, 2025, in the reading hall of the library of Ternopil National Medical University, students of all years of the Paramedic program had a sincere and inspiring meeting with Zoryana Byndas — a well-known journalist, writer, poet, and producer. The author came to speak with students about the power of humanity, empathy, truth, and courage, and also presented her books — the documentary “There Is a Pulse!” and several children’s titles.

The book “There Is a Pulse!” is a collection of documentary stories about police paramedics from Donetsk region who save lives in wartime conditions. Zoryana Byndas recorded real testimonies of people who work under shelling, evacuate the wounded, and provide aid to both civilians and soldiers. These are the voices of those who often remain behind the scenes but are the very ones who keep the heartbeat of the nation alive each day.

During the meeting, the author shared the stories of these heroes, spoke about the responsibility of journalists, the importance of documenting the truth, and preserving memory. Her words deeply resonated with the future paramedics who are already preparing to face similar challenges.
In addition to her documentary prose, Zoryana Byndas is also the author of several children’s books, including “Patriotic Kittens” and its sequel “Purring Stories.”

In her fairy tales, the writer speaks to children with tenderness and warmth about important values — kindness, support, self-belief, and love for their homeland.
Each story is a gentle way to talk about courage and hope, which is especially meaningful at a time when children grow up alongside the realities of war.

A special place in Zoryana Byndas’s creative work belongs to her new book “Nord and the Steel Hundred” — a fairy tale dedicated to the memory of Serhii Konoval (callsign “Nord”), a dentist, graduate of our university, patriot, warrior, and Hero of Ukraine who gave his life for our freedom. In this story, goodness and bravery have childlike traits — both magical and real. The author created the image of a hero who continues to live in people’s hearts, inspiring loyalty, courage, and love for others.

The book aims not only to preserve the memory of Serhii but also to convey to children a vital message — that even in darkness, there is light, and it begins within each of us.
The meeting in the library became a true dialogue between generations — those who write stories and those who are ready to create them with their own hands.
Students asked questions about journalism, creativity, moral strength, and professional calling. The atmosphere in the hall was filled with gratitude, sincerity, and inspiration.
At the end, everyone had the opportunity to get autographs and thank the author for a meeting that left a pulse of faith, kindness, and love in their hearts.
