XIII Scientific Symposium “Immunopathology in Respiratory and Digestive Diseases” was Held at TNMU

On October 9–10, 2025, the XIII Scientific Symposium with International Participation “Immunopathology in Respiratory and Digestive Diseases” took place at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University.

Traditionally, the symposium was organized by the faculty of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care, and Clinical Immunology, together with the Course of Phthisiology of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine and Phthisiology.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Ivan Klishch, Vice-Rector for Research at TNMU, and Olha Yarmolenko, Director of the Department of Health of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration.

Krzysztof Grzesik, General Director of the Małopolska Hospital of Lung Diseases and Rehabilitation named after Edmund Wojtyla (Jaroszowiec, Poland), delivered a presentation titled “Zbyt późno rozpoznana gruźlica kończy się zgonem” (“Tuberculosis Diagnosed Too Late Leads to Death”), in which he discussed complex clinical cases of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Leading Ukrainian experts and scientists also gave presentations.
Professor Serhii Zaikov, President of the Ukrainian Association of Allergologists (Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine), presented a report on “Food Allergy and Food Intolerance: A Patient Management Algorithm.”


Professor Liliia Todoriko (Bukovinian State Medical University; Kharkiv National Medical University) spoke on “Peculiarities of Pneumonia Course in Pregnant Women under the Influence of COVID-19.”


Professor Liudmyla Konopkina (Dnipro State Medical University) conducted an engaging presentation for practicing physicians titled “Cough Variant Asthma: How Not to Make a Mistake?”

The issue of combating tuberculosis remains relevant both in Ukraine and worldwide. Professor Yurii Valetskyi (Volyn Medical Institute) delivered a presentation on “The Tuberculosis Situation: From Different Perspectives.”

Ternopil National Medical University was represented by:
Professor Ihor Hospodarskyi, who presented “Patient After Completion of Antiviral Therapy for Hepatitis C: Management of Hepatic and Extrahepatic Complications.”
Associate Professor Nadiia Reha, who spoke on “Modern Approaches to the Therapy of Recurrent Herpes.”

The plenary session also featured a number of other interesting and relevant presentations by scientists from Ukraine and TNMU.
In total, 68 reports were presented during the plenary and sectional sessions of the symposium.
