TNMU Students Learned How to Cope with Stress
On October 23, 2025, a training session for students of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was held on the topic “Stress and How to Cope with It.” The event was organized by students Svitlana Tovtyn (MM-511) and Yevdokiia Mudra (MM-515) under the guidance of Associate Professor Olha Liuta from the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology, in collaboration with interns Viktoriia Lehka and Davyd Klopotovskyi.

During the session, participants discussed the phenomenon of stress, its types and consequences, and explored practical methods of overcoming psycho-emotional tension. Special attention was given to distinguishing between eustress (positive, mobilizing stress) and distress (negative, destructive stress), as well as their impact on students’ academic performance and professional development as future doctors.

The training included an interactive quiz that helped assess students’ awareness of stress-related concepts and effective coping strategies. This engaging format encouraged active participation and created a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

The practical part of the event featured a master class on self-regulation techniques, including exercises such as “Australian Rain,” “Butterfly,” and “Wave,” which help reduce anxiety, restore self-control, and stabilize emotional balance. In addition, participants discussed effective ways to organize their study routine and prevent emotional burnout.

Such events play an important role in shaping future physicians’ mental hygiene skills, promoting awareness of their own mental health, and developing resilience. They not only enhance professional training but also teach students how to take care of themselves — both as individuals and as future medical professionals.
