TNMU Launches the Dr. Valikhnovskyi Named Scholarship
On November 18, 2025, the director and founder of the medical center “Dr. Valikhnovskyi Clinic,” renowned Ukrainian plastic and reconstructive surgeon Rostyslav Valikhnovskyi, visited Ternopil National Medical University to sign a cooperation agreement establishing a named scholarship for the best students of the university.

“The main purpose of my visit to TNMU is the desire to deepen cooperation with a university that is well-known in Ukraine and beyond, and that holds leading positions both nationally and globally. I am here representing my team, and I myself am a graduate of what was then the Ternopil Medical Institute, class of 1996. I was one of only two students who received top grades on all exams. We were maximalists. Maximalism is quite a positive trait if applied wisely—by listening to the call of your heart, understanding what inspires you in life, what profession and work bring you joy and motivation. This is very important. For me, during my studies at the university, every class felt like a celebration. I have only positive memories of my Alma Mater, and that is why I gladly joined Rector Mykhailo Korda’s initiative to create a scholarship fund to support the best students. This will be a named scholarship for students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements and whose parents gave their lives for Ukraine. Their parents fulfilled their sacred duty and upheld the Gospel principle that there is no greater love on earth than to give one’s life for the lives of others,” said Rostyslav Valikhnovskyi.

During Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Rostyslav Valikhnovskyi’s team created the “Surgery Academy,” through which nearly 1,000 participants have undergone training and professional development. During this time, the team organized 200 live surgical webinars in English. The work of this academy is broadcast on five international platforms, allowing people from 40 countries to witness the work of Valikhnovskyi’s team. “I would gladly offer the scholarship recipient free participation in this academy as an additional bonus. We also provide students with an opportunity to gain practical experience through observation. The second level involves assisting, and the third—preparation for international exams to validate their diploma. If the scholarship recipients are motivated to grow, we will gladly involve them in this vast body of theoretical and practical knowledge,” added Valikhnovskyi.
He also noted that he is ready to continue his previous practice of motivational meetings with students to strengthen their confidence in choosing the medical profession.
