Participation of an Associate Professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy with Autopsy Course and Forensic Medicine in the Conference “Survivor-Centered Justice for Victims of Gender-Based Violence”

On December 3, 2025, the third annual conference “Survivor-Centered Justice for Victims of Gender-Based Violence” was held in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Women Lawyers Association “JurFem” in cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police of Ukraine, and with the support of the Embassy of Finland in Ukraine.

The conference aimed to identify and address key challenges in the investigation of criminal offenses related to domestic and sexual violence, as well as to improve the effectiveness of such investigations. The event brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, the прокуратure, the judiciary, lawyers, and forensic experts from across the country.

Forensic medical experts with experience in conducting forensic examinations in criminal proceedings related to crimes against sexual freedom and personal integrity also took part in the conference. Among them was Svitlana Trach Rosolovska, Associate Professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy with Autopsy Course at Ternopil National Medical University and a forensic medical expert of the State Institution “Ternopil Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination.”

Within the framework of the conference, panel discussions were held on the application of survivor-centered approaches in conducting forensic examinations in criminal proceedings, as well as practical workshops focused on problematic issues related to the application of preventive measures in cases of gender-based violence, and on the specifics of evidence gathering using digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
